The False
Wake.

A LIFE CANNOT BE EDITED INTO SILENCE.
AN ILLUSTRATED PSYCHOLOGICAL MURDER MYSTERY

Flowers. Photographs.
A carefully arranged life.

The funeral director has stopped the tribute. The personal effects do not fit the photographs, and people who knew the deceased remember incompatible versions of his life.

As an independent investigator, give the dead person back their name—and prove who arranged the deception. Establish the identity, trace the funeral’s preparation, and determine how its false account connects to the death.

Before you enter the gathering

Fictional murder, a non-graphic fatal fall, bereavement, estrangement and private correspondence. No reflex timer or sound-only clue. Saves stay in the same browser. Optional device narration reads visible transcripts; it is not a performed cast recording.

PUBLIC CEREMONY. PRIVATE CONVERSATIONS.

The room is quiet.
The details are not.

Visit the reception, memorial room, courtyard, director’s office and preparation room. Follow the investigation to the nearby family house when the established findings give you a reason to go.

People remember, assume, conceal and sometimes lie. Your task is to distinguish those possibilities through corroboration, without treating a private relationship as evidence of a crime.

SIX CHAPTERS · A COMPLETE CASE

Reconstruct the person.
Defend the explanation.

01

Someone Else’s Life

Begin with what has been put on display. Which parts of this life can the objects actually support?

02

The People Who Came

Different mourners remember different occasions. Establish the relationships and separate dates from assumptions.

03

The Borrowed Life

Follow the possessions, the invitations and two names that appear in different records.

04

Before the Gathering

Reconstruct Tuesday’s movements and test the physical account of the fall.

05

A Ceremony Arranged

Trace who could authorise the changes, then connect each person to the actions the evidence supports.

06

The Name on the Stone

Resolve the remaining conflict, prepare the demonstration and answer challenges in front of the gathering.

THE ENDING MUST BE EARNED

Show how you know.
Choose what they hear.

Prepare the witnesses and a defensible sequence of demonstrations. Respond to specific objections with a supported explanation. The final account depends on what has been established and what you choose to disclose.

There is no hidden countdown or permanent penalty for a reasonable experiment. A presentation checkpoint preserves the investigation while you explore another ending.

Completion time and difficulty have not been measured through independent fresh-player testing.
